Friday Fun Club

Before we paused meetings, due to the pandemic, we met early evening, usually on the second Friday in the month. The club is run by members of Ashley Methodist Church for children aged between 5-10 years. Friday Fun Club provides a safe environment for young people to enjoy some independence and to interact with children outside of school from the local area.

When we feel it is safe to do so, and there is a renewed appetite for it, we will restart Fun Club.

ACTIVITIES

Our activities include crafts, games (snooker, air hockey, table tennis and table football). We also run a tuck shop. The club has been running for about 20 years and has hopefully been a “stepping stone” for children to meet in church, whether, or not, they come to church. The hope is that the Fun Club would be a good way of introducing more young people to get to know Jesus. The children who are members now are not from our church, but most do attend other local churches. When children reach the age of 11 they can then move onto the LOL Group or the Church of England Youth Group (ID). Our numbers have varied over the years between 4 and 35 children! All of our supervisors are members of Ashley Methodist Church and are DBS checked.

REGISTRATION

Currently Fun Club registration has been paused.

LOL

LOL is an ecumenical youth group organised by Ashley Methodist Church and the Church of England. We are a transitional Youth Group for young people who are moving from Junior School to Senior School, to enable the young people to keep in touch with their friends.
This Youth Group is formed whenever sufficient youngsters are moving up from Fun Club or in response to demand.

ACTIVITIES

As with Friday Fun Club, LOL has been paused due to the pandemic. When running, LOL would meet at various times during term time (on Friday nights) and as well as games and craft activities,
the meetings include a fifteen-minute slot based on Christian teaching.
The young people move on from LOL to the Church of England Youth Group (ID) after a year.
